Saudi Arabia Women's Teacher Training
Posted on
In today’s blog post The Mazé Method Emissary, Sarah Bohairy, who lives and teaches in Saudi Arabia, speaks with Noah about her recent completion of The Mazé Method female only Teacher Training in Riyadh. This was a groundbreaking training of women teaching women.
Noah: How have you grown through your participation in this 200 hour The Mazé Method Teacher Training?
Sarah: Leading a 200 YTT for the first time was a huge growth experience for me. I’d spent many hours on the other side of the circle as a student; it was a big change to be the person in the group others were listening to attentively. The teaching experience was very different from teaching a 90 minutes class, teaching many different aspects of the yoga discipline and to students who were hoping to share what they learned with others. The intensity of the overall experience, which also took place when I was experiencing a lot of challenge in my personal life, led to periods of deep personal reflection. On many occasions I was given the opportunity to take a good hard look at myself, my motivations, my behavior patterns, areas of my life that were working and others that needed attention. During the entire experience, I felt more a student then a teacher many times. I learned so much not only from my teacher, Noah, but also from the students present. I have immense gratitude to everyone who made the YTT possible and supported me during the process.
Noah: What were your biggest successes?
Sarah: My biggest success is my students success. From my point of view across the teaching circle, I saw immense growth and transformation among all the women who participated. They worked hard and it paid off!
Noah: What were your biggest challenges?
Sarah: My biggest challenge was myself. I have four children and continued a full teaching schedule while the YTT was running. Not paying attention to my personal needs left me exhausted at times. I need to remember myself more often.
Noah: What advice would you give others who are starting out on the path of learning to teach?
Sarah: Do it! Don’t wait! You will learn, grow, transform and spread the joy of yoga to others!
Noah: What are your next steps? How will you apply what you have learned?
Sarah: Next step is a 200 YTT in Bali with Amy Petty and Noah. The learning I did on the Spring YTT has made me realize that I do have something to share.

Very cool! Good to see yoga being available to women (and men) all over the world!
I am curious, how does the government view/tollerate yoga in this country?
How is clothing / women being exposed with their bodies an issue?
Is is a women-only environment.
Please share more about how yoga is working in this country.
Nice Work –
